Jesus is our Mediator

Job 9:32-35

God is not a man like me that I might answer him, that we might confront each other in court. If only there were someone to arbitrate between us, to lay his hand upon us both, someone to remove God’s rod from me, so that his terror would frighten me no more. Then I would speak up without fear of him, but as it now stands with me, I cannot.

Job cries out for a mediator between himself and God. Someone that would understand him and be able to remove his sin, so that God’s wrath would not fall upon him.

Do you still feel shame and guilt for past mistakes? Do you wish you could approach the Lord and ask his forgiveness?

For years I tried to push my sin aside, not wanting to think about it or deal with it. I told myself everyone else did it, what’s the big deal? The big deal was, sin continued to separate me from God. As my sins began to pile higher and higher, like an impassable brick wall, I began to feel trapped by the very thing I had said was “no big deal”. The brick wall continue to grow higher along with my feelings of hopelessness and despair. How could I ever break down the wall of my own making to reach a holy God? It was impossible.

And then I met Jesus.

For who can stand before a holy, righteous God innocent and pure and yet still understand the weakness and sin of man? Only Jesus Christ who is fully man and yet fully God.

Jesus took my sins upon himself, kicked down my brick wall and brought me into the very presence of God Almighty. With no feelings of guilt or shame, I stand before a holy God and praise his name.

Jesus is my mediator.

1 Timothy 2:5–6a

For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people. He is the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.

Prayer: Thank you Jesus, for filling that gap between people and God. Thank you for your love and acceptance, thank you for your mercy toward’s us.
