“But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.” Daniel 1:8
No matter our circumstances choose to live fully for the will of God. Therefore, do not live like unbelievers. Be set apart, so that others will see and want to know Christ.
Sometimes I think, Lord, I’m not qualified to be writing and leading in this new ministry. I certainly feel that way today! I know many who could fill my role because they are better educated in different ways than I am or have more experience than I do. Yet, I know the Lord has called me here and He is equipping me. I desire to be Christ-like and I want to encourage others in their walk with Him or to Him. If I look back on past experiences, I know He will equip me to do His work. I was reminded of this when I was reading in 1 Corinthians. As Paul encouraged his brothers and sisters at the time, and it encouraged me, may it encourage you today as you read it too.
“And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.” 1 Corinthians 2:2-5
“I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge— God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will also keep you firm to the end so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 4-9
Prayer: Dear Father, we come to You humbled like Paul and yet courageous like Daniel. As You show us our weaknesses, fill us with Your strength, equip and enrich our lives so that we may choose to live Christ-like to honor You. Thank you for Your love and grace. In Your Son’s precious name, Jesus. Amen.
