“I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how disciplined you are and how firm your faith in Christ is. So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:1-7
I am in awe of and full of thankfulness for God’s beauty that surrounds me. The sun is shining, the sky is a beautiful clear blue and the trees are the brightest greens, yellows, reds and oranges that I can recall. When I walk outside I smell the lightest fragrances of the Fall blossoms. I love this time of year! I am looking forward to an upcoming family trip to the farm where apple cider doughnuts and pumpkin pies will be baking with cinnamon bursting through the air. They also have the most delicious apple cider beyond compare that quenches the thirst after running through the corn maze or climbing through the farm equipment obstacle course! This time of year also draws me closer to the Lord as the days become shorter and colder. I tend to slow down a bit and I’m more likely to snuggle in with my Bible and journal for longer moments. I find such encouragement in the Word that I feel deeply rooted, built up and strengthened in the Lord. Though I may stumble, turn my eyes away at times or just plainly become selfish, I know that I am rooted in Christ. I know that He forgives me and wants what is best for my life. I know this to be true by the promises in His Word and through the beauty that surrounds me. I am so thankful for all of the ways He shows us His love.
Prayer: Dear Father, thank You for Your love. Thank You that when we stumble, You are right there helping to pick us up. When we are hurting, You kiss away our tears. When we are frightened, You surround us in Your might. Thank You for giving us the perfect treasure of Your precious Son, Jesus! It’s in His name we pray, amen!
