“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”  John 14:27

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:7

Waking up to a cold, dark, fall morning is both exhilarating and a struggle.  I want to just stay nestled into my cozy bed & camp there for a while.  Yet, the Lord has been waking me early, very early for quiet time with Him.  He is answering my prayer and heart’s desire to have more time with Him.  So, why is it that I want to say, “Lord, please just another hour of sleep.”  Perhaps, it is because I am burning the candle at both ends, as my mother would say.  Today, I got up and decided to listen to His call and meet Him on the couch with my Bible.  He drew me in and our time was opulent, humbling and encouraging while I explored the book of Esther.  The Lord spoke to me about relationships and long-suffering.  The book of Esther shows the dynamic relationship between Mordecai and Esther and how they bravely resigned to help and sculpt a nation. I became submerged in His Word and felt His peace that He speaks about in John 14:27 and Philippians 4:7.

I had comfortably wrapped myself in the book of Esther because Linda, Debbie and I have been editing The Encouraging Word’s NEW Esther Bible Study and it is just amazing!  Linda interweaves the story of a humble Jewish girl that rises to a royal position in the Persian Empire with God’s salvation plan for people.  The allegories and comparisons in the study are rich and insightful. We learn what Jesus did for us and why He had to pay the ultimate price for our sin.  And along the way, we grow in our understanding of who God is and of how much He loves us.

Our new Esther Bible Study will be coming out in 2019.  Set aside some time this weekend to meet the Lord in your comfy, quiet place and open the Bible to Esther to examine this story of relationships, risk, and bravery.  As you unfold His Word, may you deepen your relationship with Christ and feel His love and peace that surpasses all understanding.  Be encouraged!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for Your love and peace.  In a world that is full of enticing choices and troubling voices, help us to hear Your call to be with You.  As we set our clocks back tonight, help us to set a new routine with You.  May the extra hour that we gain, somehow slow us down to meet with You more often.  We love You dearly.  In Jesus’ precious name. Amen
