The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
I stood in front of my mirror, applying my concealer, to my dark rings under my eyes and my blemishes on my face. I watched as each imperfection was covered and my skin looked perfect. As long as I didn’t sweat, or touch my face, my skin discolorations were gone.
As I contemplated the results, I found myself wishing I could cover my other flaws so easily. My selfishness, my stubbornness, my lack of patience and laziness; just to list a few.
But before I could go down that road of disappointment in myself, the Lord reminded me, my sins are more than covered, they are forgotten. As far as the east is from the west, has the Lord removed our sins from us (Psalm 103:12). His mercies are new every morning. We get a fresh start each day to work on our flaws. The Lord doesn’t leave us as we are, but constantly challenges us and encourages us to be more like his son Jesus. To do as he did.
For a believer this is called sanctification. Day by day, year-by-year, we begin to look and act more like Jesus. Now that’s Good News indeed!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for you’re covering of mercy over me. I pray that each day I would begin to look and act more like Jesus. I love you Lord, amen.
