Do Good

“Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives.”    Titus 3:14 NIV

My hubby and I live in a small community in the beautiful country of Panama. When we first retired here, we got all caught up and excited about “the retired life”. Playing golf, beach walks, pool time, and gatherings with other retired Americans for fellowship and appetizers in the evenings….. sounds great, huh?  Well, we found that living life only focused on yourself was pretty unfulfilling and became empty very quickly.

Thankfully, God sent us people to remind us that we are not on vacation here. They opened our eyes to the needs of people who live right here in our community. We are called to “Do good, provide, and be productive”.

What about you? Are you looking for ways to serve God right where you are? Ask Him to show you the need of others around you. Get ready for a life that is full of meaning and joy, as you see God at work in others and yourself.

Prayer: Jesus, please give us hearts that are hungry to serve others and fill us with your joy as we help. We desire to live productive lives; open our eyes to do good and to provide for those in need. We love you, Lord. Amen.

  1. Giving encouragement, aid, and comfort is something you’ve been doing for a LONG time. No doubt you are considered a dear friend and encouraging voice to the Panamanian people who you help daily. We love to hear the stories when you come home to’re both an inspiration for those looking for ways to show Christ’s love to those who are less fortunate.
