Do Not Fear. You are Christ’s!

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”       Isaiah 41:10

“You are Christ’s.”   1 Corinthians 3:23

“I have yet something to say on God’s behalf.”  Job 36:2

What makes us experience fear? Perhaps, we tremble when we hear thunder or shake at the sight of a storm rolling in from the sea. Possibly, it’s a spider, a snake, or crossing a bridge that makes us feel uneasy. Perchance, panic strikes when one must speak publicly. What are our coping skills when faced with fear? Do we scatter like birds when a cat approaches? Do we scurry inside a hole when chased by a predator? Do we sit back idly when asked to do something we fear, or do we stand up to the challenge that has been set before us?  At times, fear grips us so tightly that it prevents us from doing what we are called to do.

There is an enemy that stultifies us from doing God’s work. That enemy uses fear to shut us down, so that we miss opportunities to tell others about Christ. Think of our families and friends. How many times have we thought to speak to a loved one about Christ, but we freeze up and don’t talk to them because we are afraid that it will push them away from us. That kind of fear is from the enemy, it is not from God.

There is a solution! When we know who we are, Whose we are; we are Christ’s! Then we can trust His Word in Psalm 16:8, “I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Through Him we can do all things (Ephesians 4:13). When we seek the Lord to help us through a difficult task, He intercedes and makes a way for us to do His will. He has given us talents and gifts to be used for His purpose! He wants us to use them to tell others about Him. We ought to, like Elihu, stand tall, face it all and speak on God’s behalf (Job 32-36). We are called to tell others about Christ and what He has done for us. If not gifted to speak, then sing a song (Job 36:24), write a letter (2 Corinthians 2), speak to your children, give to the needy, take care of the widowed, provide for the orphans (James 1:27). Let’s use our talents and gifts for His good purposes. Do not fear. Let’s show this dark world His beautiful light (Matthew 5:16NLT)!

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank You for Your steadfast love, Your unending grace and Your merciful strength. Give us Your courage to say no to fear and yes to You. Take our God-given talents to honor You in all that we do. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
