Confidence in our Salvation

For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. Romans 10:9–10

When my daughter Carly was in second grade she attended a Christian school. Every Wednesday morning was chapel. All the students from first grade to eighth grade would gather in the gym. They would sing praise songs, listen to a Bible teaching and then at the end, the school pastor would lead them in the prayer of salvation. He would ask if anyone would like to accept Jesus as their Savior, if anyone would like to go to heaven when they die and have all their sins forgiven right now.

He would then ask the students to raise their hands if they wanted to be saved. Every week Carly would raise her hand. She wanted to be sure she was going to heaven and that she was forgiven. For she knew she still made mistakes and she wanted the Lord to know she still believed in Him and wanted to do the right thing.

We can have confidence in our salvation. When we accept Christ as Lord, He comes into our hearts, and we become one with Him. We still stumble at times, but the Holy Spirit is at work within us, changing us, softening our hearts and helping us to live in righteousness, as we follow the teachings of Jesus.

Ephesians 3:12 In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

Prayer: Thank you Heavenly Father for confidence in our Salvation, that we don’t have to worry if we are good enough or have accepted Jesus as Lord enough times to make it to heaven. Jesus has done it all, we put our trust in Him and rest in His completed work. We love you Lord. Amen.
