”Good and upright is the LORD; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way.” Psalm 25:8
”For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
I recently heard the analogy of the Christian life compared to that of an orchestra and the conductor. It caused me to reflect on when my children were young and sang in their youth choir with the Portland Chamber Orchestra. While the instrumentalists were warming up at rehearsal, the sound was quite awful because they were each playing their own sections of different songs. This trying, harsh sound is called a cacophony. However, as soon as the conductor stepped up to his platform, all instrumentalists lifted their eyes to him and stopped playing. He lifted his hands, they turned their sheet music to the first song and begun with his conducting. As they followed his guidance and the direction of the score on their sheet music, the alluring sounds were beautiful, pleasing and harmonious.
As Christians, our conductor is God and the Bible is His score. When we closely follow His score from within His Word, the music of our lives become harmonious with His will. At times, there will be cacophony, as trials pass into our lives or as we work through a situation. Yet, do not become disheartened, lift your eyes upon the Conductor of Your lives and look closely at the notes that He has written for you. Finally, rest in knowing that He has plans for you to give you hope and a future.
If you are not yet a Christian, I pray that you hear His score, His harmonious voice calling to You. Trust His conducting over your life: His ways are loving and perfect. He hears your cacophony of grief and struggles and He longs to hear it all. He loves you just how you are and He wants you to have hope in Him. Believe in Jesus, follow Him and see His plans for you.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the hope of eternal peace with You. While we wait upon the day that Your Son returns or when You call us home, help us to be in tune with You and Your plans for our lives. We lay every concern before You, we thank You for the score You have written, and may we be a sweet melody to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
