Refreshing the Soul

“But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.” James 1:25

“The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” Psalm 19:7

We have officially begun the Memorial Day weekend. We are heading to a church retreat in the woods near the Mt. Hood National Forest. Many families are heading out for vacation this weekend, while others are staying home to celebrate those who have served our country, fought for our freedom and lost their lives doing so. Some people choose to decorate the graves of fallen veterans or wear a red poppy flower in remembrance.

Whatever, your family chooses to do this weekend, I pray that you are safe and remembering the freedoms that you have in our great country. Thank a family of a fallen member and thank those surviving veterans and those still serving for our independence!

If you are a Christian, let’s also remember the freedom we have in Jesus Christ who served others and died for our salvation. We are free from sin and darkness because of His death. Let’s rejoice and be refreshed by reading God’s Word and experiencing true deliverance in Christ no matter what our circumstances are. We will be blessed!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for providing the greatest freedom for us through accepting Your Son as Lord and Savior. May this be a refreshing and peaceful weekend filled with many opportunities to share about this great liberty. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.

  1. Thank you Tiffany for this reminder of our freedoms that were paid for with the lives of so many. Thank you for the reminder of our ultimate freedom in Jesus Christ who went willingly to the Cross for each one of us. May we truly look up to Heaven and thank all those who died on our behalf and thank our precious Savior. I remember my dear mom and dad, who were both veterans. I can’t wait to see them again. Blessings, Susan
