A Place Prepared for Us

Painting by Greg Kero, “First Day in Heaven”

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? John 14:2

My son and daughter-in-law are expecting a baby girl in just a month. They have named her Cora and the whole family can’t wait to meet her face-to-face. We might have to draw names as to who gets to hug and kiss on her first, we’re all so excited.

Missy has planned out a “secret garden” theme for the nursery and has been busy with last-minute details. Cameron’s job was to get all the baby furniture built and into the room, which included a hide-a-bed sofa. The room will double as a guest room on occasion too.

Cameron had to get some of his army friends to help get that sofa upstairs and squeezed into the nursery. However, no effort was too much, no detail over looked and there was no limit to the time they spent preparing a room for Cora.

If human parents can lovingly prepare a place for a future daughter, can’t we trust our Heavenly Father to prepare a place for us in heaven, just as Jesus promised? All our loved ones, that have passed before us, will be anxiously waiting to greet us. They might even have to take numbers to see who will hug us first.

Then Jesus will take us to our new home. A place lovingly prepared just for us. No effort will be spared to make us feel comfortable, welcomed and loved. It will be perfect in every way, because we will finally see Jesus face-to-face. Oh what joy awaits us!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you in advance for the beautiful place you have prepared for me. Help me trust in your promises and wait patiently for your kingdom to come. I love you Lord, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

  1. I can’t wait!! I can’t wait to throw myself into Jesus’s waiting arms. Yes, Debbie, what a day that will be! Thank you Linda. I needed to hear this and catch the joy and anticipation again. I love you Lord, so much, come quickly. Amen Blessings, Susan
