The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Psalm 23:1-3
Sometimes the Lord allows us to go through difficult times so that we must rest in Him.God tells us to be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10). He knows that we need a time of solitude with Him so that He will restore our souls.
Solitude is the state of being alone, usually in silence, with God to pray, meditate on His Word, and to simply enjoy being with our Father. Some may refer to this as their quiet time with God.
Lamentations tells us in 3:25, 28, “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him. Let him sit alone in silence, for the Lord has laid it on him.” Have you been alone, in silence, focusing on hearing your Heavenly Father? He is longing for us to sit quietly with Him to be restored. Are you anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, sad, or concerned?
Here are some tools for us: Find somewhere quiet to go to and pray. Thank Him for a blessing and then tell Him your concerns. He wants to hear from you. Thank Him for listening to and loving you. Then, open your Bible to Psalms and read a few verses. Journal what He may be saying to you.
Be renewed and encouraged.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank you for your loving kindness and your gentle whispers. May our ears be open to your guidance and our hearts tender towards You. In Your precious Son’s name. Amen
