Acclaim Him

“I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.”   Psalm 145:1-5

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”   Hebrews 13:8

When I’ve had a difficult day, I particularly favor reading Psalms. I am usually reminded of a hymn and instantly sing it which lifts my mood tremendously! Even though David wrote these words in Psalm 145 many “yesterdays” ago, I clearly see how applicable God’s Word is to my life today, to those around me, as well as to our future.

Here are some instructions I’ve gleaned from the verses in Psalm 145. They create a great pattern for our day, and I hope they encourage you: Let’s start our day extolling, praising Our King and forge time throughout the day to thank Him.  We don’t need to search any further than the Word to see His greatness; it is written throughout. Rest in knowing that He is the Almighty Great I Am. Share with our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all that He has done. Tell your children about Jesus and His love for them. Share the Good News with your grandchildren. Write letters to your future great-grandchildren. Finally, finish your day reflecting on the beautiful blessings He provides: your family, pets, friends, home, health, nature, joy, peace… Record them in a gratitude journal to see what He has done in your life.

Prayer: Dear loving Father, thank You for providing clear instructions in Your Word that are the same yesterday, today and forever. Help us to create new patterns of time with You so that we can show You how much we adore You. Help us to be brave and acclaim How majestic You are! In Jesus name. Amen.
