“And Jesus said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3
“I have sent you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” John 13:15
My grandson Clark toddled after his daddy as we walked along a secluded wooded road. He looked up with adoring eyes and said, “hand, hand”. His father quickly reached down and grasped his hand as they headed to the waters edge.
My son Cameron knelt down by the sparkling water, keeping hold of Clark with one hand and searching for rocks for him to throw with the other hand. Cameron would identify objects, and Clark would repeat after him, “rock”, “stick”, “good job”, “oh wow”. Clark eagerly copied his daddy and repeated everything he said.
Watching my grandson I could understand why the Lord desires believers to become like little children. People that follow after the Lord eagerly, desiring His hand in their lives, and seeking to repeat His words of life to a hurting world, are people after God’s own heart.
Oh, that I would thirst after God as a little child longs for his daddy!
Prayer: Dear Jesus, take my heart back to the days when I was a baby Christian and I longed to be in your word, in fellowship and in church constantly. Remind me how I thrilled to hear from you and waited in expectation for you to teach me and help me every day, reaching down to personally take my hand, making me feel special and loved as I followed after you. I still love you so much my Lord. Humble my heart and help me to become like a little child, forever seeking to be just like you, my Heavenly Father. Amen.
