With Thanksgiving

And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe. 1 Thessalonians 2:13

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, WITH THANKSGIVING present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

I stepped outside and felt the unexpected warm fall breeze across my face as I breathed in the scent of jasmine. What a day this would be! I chose to grab my Bible and iPad to dive into the Word to be filled with inspiration to write encouragement to others.

The most exciting thing happened as I read God’s Word; He spoke to me about things in my life, ways to communicate better with family and friends, how to hold my tongue when I want to defend myself, how to show love when I don’t feel like loving and how to forgive those who have hurt me. By reading the Word there was immediate healing and guidance for things I had been struggling with.

I kept reading and saw that there is a reoccurring theme; to give thanks to God. As we enter the holidays, many of us become anxious over a list of things to do and various issues. Yet, the first holiday we are celebrating this week is Thanksgiving! Philippians 4:6-7 tells us not to be anxious about anything, but in every situation, go to God in prayer by thanking Him and presenting our concerns to Him and in return, we will feel His peace. Let’s start the holidays by focusing on the blessings, thanking God for those things, giving our concerns to God and sharing with others what God has done in our lives.

Be encouraged and spread His peace!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the privilege that we have in the United States to openly share your Word and your love with others. Help us to keep our focus always on you. As we seek you through praise, may we feel your peace and share you with those around us through our actions while working, shopping, driving, and preparing for the holidays. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. Thank you Tiffany, for the reminder that we have such religious freedom in our nation. What a blessing this is! I am so grateful to God for His patience with me as I in continue to grow in my faith, learning to trust Him more each day with all my concerns for myself and others. He loves and cares for us so very much and He wants us to thank Him in all our circumstances and to talk with Him daily about the big and the small things that matter to us, for we matter to Him. Thanksgiving Blessings, Susan
