The Son is Present

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9

Indoors I sit, while clicking keys, I gaze out the window to see puzzle pieces of blue sky through the green, mossy trees while the amber glow of the setting sun reaches through to me for one final glimpse. In the woods, I hear the hooting of an owl and then the answering from another. At times, I have heard three or four separate owls with their own voice speaking out. I can’t see them, yet their presence is evident. Just as, when the day grows dark, though it is no longer within sight; the sun is present.

Jesus came into this world, lived, loved and died for all mankind to be saved by believing in Him. Then, how do we love and believe in Him, yet we do not see Him? Because, those who believe in Him are with Him. The Son is present. He is with us always. He fills us with the Holy Spirit and we experience an inexpressible and glorious joy in many ways! For example, I felt His presence, when I held a friend’s baby last night. He turned his tiny head, gazed into my eyes, and I felt an inexpressible joy. For a moment, I thought of Mary with Jesus, as a baby, gazing into her eyes. Inexpressible and glorious joy! Many have said they have seen His presence when hiking in nature, reading His Word, praising, praying, gathering in His churches, singing and worshipping. We all have special moments that we can recall evidence of the Lord’s presence in our life. He never leaves us or forsakes us (Deut. 31:6).

Be encouraged. The Son is present.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to remember, that when your light does not seem to be present, you are there. Cause me to hear you and turn my gaze upon you. Fill me with your inexpressible and glorious joy! In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. Linda, I love this scripture and your prayer. I just went back and reread both of them to fortify me for the day ahead. I lived in Pensacola, FL for many years and my parents are buried on the Navy base where the shooting took place yesterday so my heart is heavy today for the families. We never know when we will be called home so we must prepare our hearts and be ready. Blessings, Susan
