The Lord is an Artist

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still waters, he restores my soul. Psalm 23:1-3a

The Lord is an artist, He sees my empty canvas. He pulls me and stretches me, till I’m ready for use. He knows just what I need, as He picks colors and hues. What will bring out the real me, the me that only He can see?

It seems so slow as He lays out my design, moving the paint from side to side. He builds up my strong points, and softens my sharp edges. Will He ever be finished with this canvas of mine?

But finally, I can see my beautiful colors, the strokes and gentle touches of His loving hand. And now I understand, that I’ll never be done, I don’t want to be done. For it is as the Master touches me and molds me and moves me, that I am truly a work of art.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that we each are a unique creation, made in your image. Thank you for loving us so much, you allow us to go through challenging times as well as peaceful times. For we know it is the challenging times that give us true beauty and depth of character.

Help us to trust you and to seek you during these anxious times. Add the beautiful dark colors to our canvas’ that make us people worthy of being called your children. In Jesus name. Amen.

  1. Wow, I am speechless. This so touched my soul and made me smile. I have a dear friend who is going through a Job- like experience. I will send this on to her. Thank you for your wonderful insight. Praise God that He is still working on us. Blessings of safety, Susan
