Caused to Pause

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. Zephaniah 3:17

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.  He freed me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4

Have you ever said, Lord, I need a break! I’ve been so busy that I’m dizzy and can’t see straight. I would like a chance to simplify and slow down. I’d love to reset my daily schedule! Or maybe you’ve thought, I wonder what it would be like to live like they did in Little House on the Prairie. Today is your chance.

Our world has been caused to pause. What will you do with your new reset? Will you anxiously cling to your smartphone, computer or tv waiting for the next restriction or Covid-19 statistic? Or will you choose to set aside your fears and follow Jesus more closely? Did He not say follow Me and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28)? Take your newly given time to be in His Word reading and resting with Him.

As you read His Word, hear His voice telling you that He is in control and that You will find safety in Him (Psalm 4:8). Remember that we have a mighty God who is in control and we just need to trust Him. Easier said then done! It is normal to feel anxious during unsettling times. Some people are becoming sick, losing their jobs, or losing finances. We might not be able to control what is happening in certain areas of our lives, but we do have control over how we spend our extra time. Pray to God regarding all your fears and worries.

For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.  Do not be afraid, for I myself will help you,’ declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 41:13-14

Be encouraged and grasp His right hand while you read His Word, sing praises to Him and thank Him for the blessings He has given you. He will calm your fears and quiet your anxious heart.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for this added time to pause and reset our schedules so that our focus is on you. We thank you for those who are healthy and able to work. We ask for protection for them and their families. We lift up the sick and hurting to you and ask for healing. We pray for our President and leaders around the world as they make difficult decisions. Please take our anxious thoughts and help us to focus on you and others. May we encourage and love on one another. In your Son’s precious name, Jesus. Amen.

  1. Tiffany, I just heard myself saying Amen and Amen out loud when I read your post. We can use this time as a Blessing, if we will do as you suggest. Quiet ourselves before Our Father, Our Abba. Listen for His voice. Get into His Holy Word. The Psalms are a great place to start. They speak to us about what we are going through today. They are so timeless. Amen to your prayer. Let it be so.
I went for a short walk at sunset to see God’s Shekinah Glory. The song He gave to me was, “Shine Down your Light on me, Let the people see, that in your Presence darkness flees, Father of Light shine down on Me.” Safety and Blessings to you and yours, Susan
