Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.
During this time of staying at home, are you building walls around yourself because of your fear or are you tearing walls down by looking for ways to reach out to others and encourage them? In the above verses, Paul was imprisoned, yet he used that time to encourage others and proclaim the gospel!
Perhaps, though, you are scared, tired or maybe not feeling well and need some encouragement. I’d like to recommend a few options to choose from:
1. Take a moment and pray to God who is in control of all things. He’s right there next to you waiting to hear what’s on your heart. Lift your burdens to Him.
2. Go outside and take a walk and look for the precious spring flowers popping out and listen to the beautiful songs of the birds. Thank God for what He has given you.
3. Ask God how He can use you today to encourage others. Send a card through snail mail or write a quick text or email. Make a special meal or dish for your family. Create something special for a loved one. Pray for those who are sick.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for the endless blessings; a quiet room to slip into your Word, a bright window to look out at the budding trees that promise new growth, and for the sunshine that brings me hope. Lord, you have created all these things and I thank you. Lord, please heal those that are sick and lift the heavy burdened. Let them be filled with your joy and peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
