Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2
Yes, things are definitely different this year. Temporarily gone are the days of gathering for Easter egg hunts, brunch and sunrise services. We won’t be able to have Palm Sunday children programs with little ones walking through the church sanctuary waving palm branches and saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Luke 19: 38
Yet, I know of some pretty creative alternatives! No matter how you celebrate Holy Week, it will not change your time with Jesus! Families with younger children can act out Jesus coming into Bethlehem in their own living rooms or you can read aloud the events in Luke 19:28-40. One thing for certain is that we have more time to choose to fix our eyes on Jesus!
No matter our circumstances we can always praise our Lord because He is always with us!
Prayer: Dear Lord, we enter this weekend with our eyes and hearts fixed on you. We carefully watch how you humbly came into Bethlehem and we thank you for all that you endured that week and day upon the cross, so that we can be saved! Help us to live humble lives and to proudly proclaim you to all! Thank you for loving us right where we are. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
