“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.” Psalm 19:1-2
“Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” Psalm 100:2-3
I needed encouragement today, so I searched the Psalms. The book of Psalm is full of songs of praise. In fact, Psalm in Hebrew means song. Within these verses, I gleaned one major truth and mused on it today: God created us in His image to worship Him. We are to praise Him with declaration and adoration and rejoice by mouth, by song, and in our writings. If the heavens, skies, seas, and earth can proclaim His glory, then so can I.
Oftentimes, while driving in my car, I hear a worship song with similar words that bring me to tears, with an aching heart to fully worship the one true God and creator of all things! I love to sing hymns and worship songs. Singing alters my sadness to gladness; my worry to worship. I feel connected to my Creator and loving God. I am so thankful for who He is and how much I am loved. Sing to Him if you are thankful too. Be comforted and humbled in His presence.
“Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof.” Psalm 96:11
Prayer: Father Almighty Creator of all things, we lift our voice to you. We marvel at your beautiful creation and are humbled by your care. As we observe the beauty in the skies, seas and throughout the earth, may we be reminded to proclaim who you are and what you have done for us! Thank you. In your precious Son’s name, Jesus. Amen!
