How Do We Seek Peace?

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 NLT

It was as if we had come out of hibernation. Our eyes would strain and widen as our gaze travelled miles across the sea. The colors were as vibrant as we had ever seen. The greens were gorgeous and the brilliant blues brought a peace and energy to my soul. I was awakened to the beautiful handiwork of our Creator.

This quarantine has brought about many good and bad things, yet every day I am reminded of the peace that only God can bring during a tumultuous time. How can it be that on a pretty rotten day, I can suddenly feel this peace within me? It is because when we have the Lord as our Savior, He fills us with peace and guards our hearts and minds when we are living in Him.

So, how do we live in Him? How do we manage to continue feeling peace with so much uncertainty around us? The Bible gives us hope and tells us how in Philippians 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. ”

Be encouraged!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the beauty around us that reminds us that you are here amidst all things. Thank you for filling us with your Spirit that enables us to feel and do that which is of your will. Thank you for guarding our hearts and minds and filling us with peace and hope. In your Son’s precious name, Jesus. Amen
